Whatever happened to the "official" Armalite licensed Classic Army M15's?

Okay about a year ago the CA M15's that Armalite was going to sell was all the buzz. We even had an Armalite sales rep posting here on AO and doing an half assed attempt to answer questions.

So whatever happened to this glorious experiment? It looks like you can get a CA M15 w/ Armalite trades just about anywhere these days, but Armalite was saying that their AEG's would be extra special and be completely checked out prior to any sale so the lemons would be weeded out.

Did anyone ever get one of the CA M15's directly from Armalite? I don't even see them on the Armalite page. Did this whole venture never get off the ground or did it already go belly up?

I dont really know, I looked into that a while ago when I purchashed my m15. The armalite ones, if i remember correctly, they were selling them for $500 or so. For just a normal carbine, no RIS. I saw it as a really bad deal, and the M15's dont have many/any problems. Seems unlikely that you'd get a lemon.
The dumber people think you are, the more suprised they're going to be when you kill them.

I saw a couple on eBay before. They came with a certificate and a warrenty card. I guess since almost everyone who bought an M15 purchased it overseas, Armalite decided to screw the deal. I heard Armalite threatened a lawsuit because CA was selling the guns to retailers. They wanted to be the sole distro for them I guess. So the trademarks are no longer "official" or authorized, which is why they need to be covered up when importing. Maybe if you contact Armalite, they will be able to sell you them "authorized". But since there is no way of knowing which M15s have legal trademarks and which don't, there's no point in having them "legalized" by paying an extra $100. I mean, you can buy an M15 overseas and claim you bought it legally through Armalite - hence no prove of copyright violation. But since most U.S. retailers are selling imported M15s, I guess Armalite just no longer cares.
