Lack of participation?

Ok, my team has gotten stronger and smarter than before thanks to the added difficulties that have been placed in training. But my second in command feels that airsoft is for fun rather that having the appropriate competitive edge that is needed on our team. "Victory at any cost!" Is something we believe in fully, but he is not willing to sacrifice for it. I would usually have no problem cutting him, but, he is very tactically minded, skillful on the battlefield, and a strong leader (also like a brother to me, but business is business, so that doesn't apply here). What should I do? Make the cut and find a new one? Or try to reform his mindset? He is like me though. Once he has his mind set, its hard to change it. Any help?

He is right. Airsoft is for fun and fun only. Until you start making money for being "tacticool" and "winning" at events it will only be for fun. You can still be a good player while having fun.

BTW, we play on a "field," not a "BATTLEfield."

I swear some of you take this hobby too seriously when it comes to competiveness....

Airsoft is about fun. This "have to win at any cost" crap is what is going to eventually ruin the sport.

Lighten up francis.

I think you two need to find a happy medium. Sure it's fun to go out on the field and kick ***, but it is only a game.

lolwut.

"not willing to sacrifice for it"....what is wrong with you?

You run around with replica weapons and gear (besides the chair-softers).

I'm glad I quit when I did, people think this is a lifestyle, rather than an expensive hobby. Take it as such, at the end of the day you go back to a normal lifestyle. Don't burn bridges from something as silly as this.

Dude, I am new to airsoft, new to the fun, and this is my first post here. But if ever airsoft person was like you, I would count my looses now and stay away. You need a grip on life.

Talk it out with him, see what he thinks. Quite frankly, I'd rather play with him, than you.. What you'll learn, is the people, and kicking *** with your buddies is the best part of milsim, the experience is more important than winning. Your mindset, turns a hobby into a sport.

I switched sides (green to tan) and found another team because the team I was on (a group of my friends) we're not serious enough for me. The team I am on now isn't a all out serious type of group either though. They know when to have fun on the field and when to go for the objective. I think you need to do as Maglips says and find a happy medium. Losing a friend over a hobby is the worst way to lose a friend.

Airsoft is about fun, as stated above. As a hobby, it's not something you should be urging people to make "sacrifices" for.
