Out of the Box Industries is proud to present, Operation Scorched Earth, the first in a series of persistent world airsoft. Persistent world airsoft is a style of play where the actions and outcomes of one event have consequences in the subsequent events. Each faction will have a “home field” that will provide specific resources and benefits to that faction in the event. The fields will represent territory in the world and capturing or losing that territory can have a profound effect on the way the future events will play out. Players will not be required to attend all events in the series and this “campaign” will run for approximately a year. So pick your faction, raise your banner and join us in bringing Ohio it's first of it's kind event style.

Factions:

The United Colonial Territories have been in Terra Verde for a relatively short 20 years. Carving out a swath of land in the south the UCT landed with trademark brutality and quickly carved a Territorial outpost in the resource rich south of Terra Verde. The UCT wasted no time in establishing a military and industrial presence that the citizens of Terra Verde couldn't hope to match which is what has helped ensure that their Territorial presence has been unmatched. The 3rd Infantry was made famous in the battle of Culver's Gap for pushing out the remnants of the Terra Verde People's Army and finally securing the borders for the UCT colonists. The UCT 1st Rangers are a military unit with a long and prestigious history. Some of the most feared warriors on the planet, the 1st has a reputation as much for brutality as it does for tactical genius. Men and Women of this elite unit wear their unit insignia with well deserved pride.

The Nation of Terra Verde is a lush and beautiful countryside rich in natural resources. Despite this, years of incompetent governance and corrupt Oligarchs have led to the people of Terra Verde to not share in the national resources bounty. When the United Colonial Territories took by force a large swath of southern land the people of Terra Verde had endured enough. After the treaty of Culver's Gap, the UCT was given sovereign rights to the land as well as forcing the Terra Verde government to make reparations to the UCT for their “losses due to Terra Verdian aggression.” the people had had enough The corrupt government of President Gunderson was overthrown in a coup and for the past 20 years, the residents of Terra Verde have enjoyed a coalition of territories within their borders, working together for the common good of the citizens of Terra Verde. 20 years after the battle of Culver's Gap ended the war, the nation of Terra Verde has rebuilt much of it's lost strength. The Terra Verde People's Army, while not as well trained or equipped as their UCT counterparts have a passion for their homeland that the UCT cannot match. While the UCT has the 1st Rangers, the Terra Verdian answer is the Guerreros. Highly trained and masters of guerrilla warfare the Guerreros are deadly on their native soil. Knowing the land inside and out, many a UCT shipment or patrol has simply vanished as these warriors in the darkness have executed their trade with lethal efficiency.

Long a presence in the lands of Terra Verde, the Veluca Family Cartel has been a constant thorn in the side of the residents of both Terra Verde and the UCT. Ruthless, brutal and calculating the Veluca Family Cartel has survived since anyone can remember manufacturing heroin in the lands of Terra Verde. It is whispered that while publicly the Terra Veridan Government decries their actions, that they have continued to operate due to the funding provided to the fledgling government in its infancy.

Pre-payments are highly encouraged for this event. All payments must be made via PayPal to outoftheboxindustries@gmail.com. Your registration will ONLY be considered valid once you have received an email response indicating that we have received your payment. You will be refunded your payment if registration is full.
If you are registering as part of a team - $30.90. Include full name, date of birth, callsign, team, faction, and email address. MINIMUM TEAM NUMBER IS FIVE.
If you are registering as an individual - $36.05. Include full name, date of birth, callsign, faction, and email address.
If you want to order a patch that represents your faction, please add $5 to your pre-payment and indicate that you wish to order a patch. The deadline for pre-payments is June 5th and is the only way to secure a patch.
Payment will be accepted in cash the day of the event

Lunch: Delicious food will be available for purchase the day of the event.

EVENT RULES

Medic Rules:
Players who are hit have a set bleed out time of 5 minutes at the end of which they become a casualty. Once players bleed out they must return to their respective staging area where they become a garrison unit and may not return to play until their squad returns to retrieve them. Garrison units are free to fight, and rearm normally in their respective areas but may not return until their specific squad returns to retrieve them.
First Aid – Certain roles have first aid bandages that will be issued by event staff. A player may apply this bandage to a wounded player and that player is considered stabilized. Stabilized players may not move, and may only use a sidearm to defend themselves. If a player is hit again when they are stabilized they are immediately rendered a casualty and must return their staging area.
Medic Revival – Advanced combat medicine allows for operators who have been wounded to get back into the fight as fast as possible. Medics are issued 10 special bandages which allow a player who is bleeding out or stabilized to be brought back into the fight. Once the Advanced Bandage is applied the wounded player may act normally. Once wounded a second time the wounded player must return to their staging area once they bleed out.*
Drag Rules - In order to "drag" a wounded player, two non-wounded players must put one around each side of the wounded player and are then able to WALK with the wounded player.

Grenade Rules:
In order to cause a casualty, grenades must project bbs to score a kill. Acceptable examples are Tornado’s, 40mm rifle launched grenades or bb filled Thunder B shells.
RPG Rules:
Rocket propelled grenades must fire approved foam slugs. One rocket into a room kills that entire room. RPGs may be used to disable vehicles (see below)

Vehicle Rules:
Some vehicles will be in use be certain teams throughout the day. Players cannot commandeer vehicles and only designated players are allowed to drive them. Players may only enter and exit a vehicle once it has come to a complete stop. Players may not under any circumstances shoot at the driver, however, players may shoot at passengers. Passengers may shoot out of a moving vehicle. Nobody is allowed within 10 feet of a moving vehicle. Under no circumstances may players block the roads or otherwise inhibit the movement of a vehicle. A vehicle always has the right of way, no exceptions. Players caught violating this rule or acting in an unsafe manner around a vehicle will be immediately expelled from the game.
One hit from an RPG disables a vehicle. Grease Monkey class may revive the vehicle given 5 minutes to repair the damage. If a vehicle is hit again with an RPG while it is still disabled, all passengers are considered KIA, the vehicle must immediately return to base, and is out of play for one hour after being hit.

Weapon Safety Restrictions:
No guns are allowed to shoot over 400fps with a .2g bb, or 1.4864 joules. Players will be subject to random chrono checks. This will be strictly enforced throughout the day.

Goggles/Face Protection:
All persons are required to wear goggles or a paintball mask with a minimum rating of ANSI 87.1 2003. The mask/goggle must have a maximum gap less than 6mm between the frame and the skin. Full face protection is REQUIRED for everyone under 18 years old. Mesh goggles, shooting glasses, or ski goggles are not acceptable forms of eye protection.

Blind Firing:
YOU ARE NOT allowed to fire at someone if you can't see him. That is what we call blind firing. If you do not have your aim on the opposite player(s), don't shoot.

Safety Kills:
The bang bang rule is when you are close enough to your adversary that shooting him would possibly cause injury. When closer than 10ft and in total control, it is common courtesy to offer a "bang bang" to the player in front of you. If the player ahead can shoot back at you, you are definitely not in full control and "bang bang" can't be used. To be able to offer a "bang bang", your gun must be functional and aimed at the player. A bang bang is mandatory BUT must be given under full and total control of the situation. You offer a bang bang to a player by courtesy instead of shooting from too close while the offered player would have 0.0% of returning fire. No need to say, you can't bang bang on your way into buildings. As stipulated, if you are not in full control and the player in front of you knows that you are coming or expect you to come, you are not in control and shall not bang bang the player.


Team Abilities


Each squad will be comprised of 8 members. Obviously the encouragement is to have teams and groups register to help maintain cohesion but it is not required. PLEASE NOTE: Unless you pre-register you will not be allowed to fill a specialist role. Due to the nature of extra event provided equipment there is no other way to do this. If you do not pre-register and show up on game day you will be a rifleman by default. Each faction will have a different number of specialty slots based on the special training and nature of combative style to represent their unique nature. They are as follows.

United Colonial Territories 3rd Infantry
The UCT 3rd infantry is a proficient combat force and is the premiere line combat unit of the UCT. The following special rules will apply.
Specialist Roles: Each Squad will at minimum be made up of 1 Squad Leader, 1 Combat Medic, 4 Rifleman and 2 other roles chosen by the Squad Leader. These roles can be any combination so for example, a squad could have 2 additional Combat Medics, 1 Communication Specialist and 1 Grease Monkey, 2 Support Gunners and so on.
Unit Cohesion: Due to the high level of training required, all members of the 3rd infantry must remain within their own units. Similarly, players who become casualties return to their HQ and become garrison units until they are retrieved by their squad. Events may occur during play that will allow casualties to be returned to their units without them being retrieved. Additionally, players may not re-load while in the field and must do so at their HQ. Special events may allow players to re-load in the field instead of their HQ.

The UCT 1st Rangers are a highly trained and well equipped fighting force. Their flexibility is one of the greatest assets that they bring to the table.
The Best of the Best: The men and women of the 1st are among the world's deadliest fighting force. Part of this is the ability to adapt to any situation due to a highly flexible tactical doctrine. As such, the 1st Rangers squad is made up of 1 Squad Leader, 1 Combat Medic, 2 Riflemen and up to 4 specialists.
Versatile Insertion: The 1st Rangers are often supported by air support and air insertion. As such, they may instead of deploying via their normal headquarters deploy to any grid coordinate to begin the game at the orders of the commander. Additionally, the Rangers are able to re-load anywhere on the field provided they have the ammunition to do so.


Terra Verde People's Army
The Terra Verde makes up for it's lack of training through it's versatility and resourcefulness in living off the land.
Rag Tag Soldiers: Members of the Terra Verde People's Army are often ill equipped and poorly trained by comparison to their UCT counterparts. Each squad will consist of the following make up. 1 Squad Leader, 6 Rifleman and 1 Specialty chosen by the Squad leader.
Resourceful Warriors: While the men and women of the Terra Verde People's Army may not have the training and equipment of the UCT, they have honed their scrounging and survival skills to an art form. To represent this, all members of the Terra Verde People's Army may re-load anywhere on the field provided they have the ammunition to do so.

The Guerreros are the elite soldiers of the Terra Verdian military. Shadowy warriors who thrive in covert warfare the Guerreros are deadly in their home environment.
Guerrilla Warriors: The Guerreros are masters of guerrilla warfare and as such are able to utilize many hit and run as well as covert tactics in their warfare. The squad make up is comprised of 1 Squad Leader, 1 Combat Medic, 4 Rifleman and up to 2 Specialists of any kind. Additionally, any member of the Guerreros may carry up to 1 explosive device (defined as a claymore, IED, tripwire thunder B subject to event staff approval). Additionally, Guerreros are permitted to reload anywhere in the field provided they have the ammunition to do so.
This land is my land, it is not your land: The Guerreros know the terrain of their homeland better than anyone alive. To represent this, they may deploy anywhere on the field rather than their HQ. Additionally, Guerreros if they choose may deploy 30 minutes prior to all other players to set their position.



Out of the Box Industries will be operating on the class system for all events. Please read the following regarding the class system and how it will be utilized for this event!

Classes:


Squad Leader:
The squad leader is the on the ground communication as well as leadership element that is responsible for directing the squad's movement as well as executing the orders of the commander.

1 x Primary Weapon (Defined as a rifle or sub=machine gun replica) with up to 10 fully loaded mid cap magazines (Defined as non winding magazines whose maximum capacity fully loaded may not exceed 190 rounds).
1 x Secondary Weapon (Defined as a Handgun or Shotgun) with an unlimited number of magazines or shells.
6 x Grenades (Tornado Grenades, Thunder B's or Smoke Grenades)
up to 8,000 rounds of loose ammunition.


Rifleman:
The rifleman is the core of any fighting force and is flexible and adaptable to meet the ever changing needs of the battlefield. The rifleman is the primary line combatant for the squad.

1 x Primary Weapon (Defined as a rifle or sub-machine gun replica) with up to 12 fully loaded mid cap magazines (Defined as non winding magazines whose maximum capacity fully loaded may not exceed 190 rounds.
1 x Secondary Weapon (Defined as a Handgun or Shotgun) with an unlimited number of magazines or shells.
8 x Grenades (Tornado Grenades, Thunder B's, Smoke Grenades or 40mm Grenades). Rifleman may additionally attach an under barrel grenade launcher to their primary weapon.
Up to 10,000 rounds of loose ammunition.


Combat Medic:
Combat medics are the highly trained specialists in the squad who keep its members in the fight. Capable of reviving wounded squadmates they are additionally able to revive players whose wounds are far more grievous than can be treated by first aid alone.

1 x Primary Weapon (Defined as a rifle or sub=machine gun replica) with up to 8 fully loaded mid capacity magazines (Defined as non winding magazines whose maximum capacity fully loaded may not exceed 190 rounds.)
1 x Secondary Weapon (Defined as a Handgun or Shotgun) with an unlimited number of magazines or shells.
2 x Grenades (Tornado Grenades, Thunder B's or Smoke Grenades)
Combat Medic Kit
Up to 5,000 rounds of loose ammunition


Support Gunner:
The support gunner provides the squad with a mobile gun platform capable of laying down heavy amounts of suppressive fire to support their squad's movements as well as to ensure that the enemy thinks twice about their advance.

1 x Support Weapon (Defined as a box or drum fed support gun with up to two fully loaded magazines that the weapon is designed to take. The replica must be an actual support weapon i.e. RPK, M249, M240, PKM etc.)
1 x Secondary Weapon (Defined as a Handgun or Shotgun) with an unlimited number of magazines or shells.
4 x Grenades (Tornado Grenades, Thunder B's or Smoke Grenades).
Up to 8,000 rounds of loose ammunition.


Mechanic:
The mechanic is a critical component of a mechanized force. If it flies, drives or floats the Mechanic is able to keep it moving as well as ensuring that their vehicular assets are working properly.

1 x Primary Weapon (Defined as a rifle or sub=machine gun replica) with up to 6 fully loaded mid capacity magazines (Defined as non winding magazines whose capacity fully loaded may not exceed 190 rounds fully loaded.)
1 x Secondary Weapon (Defined as a Handgun or Shotgun) with an unlimited number of magazines or shells. Mechanics may substitute their secondary weapon for a personal defense weapon (Defined as an MP5k, MP7, MP9, Patriot style M4, P90 etc.) with up to 4 fully loaded mid capacity magazines defined as above.
1 x Tool Kit
Up to 5,000 rounds of loose ammunition.


Engineer:
The engineer serves as the squad's technical support and can fill a variety of roles to fit the needs of their commanders. From EoD to Heavy Weapons, the Engineer is a valuable and versatile component of their commander's arsenal.

1 x Primary Weapon (Defined as a Rifle or Sub Machine Gun replica) with up to 8 fully loaded mid capacity magazines (Defined as non winding magazines whose capacity fully loaded may not exceed 190 rounds fully loaded.)
1 x Secondary Weapon (Defined as a Handgun or Shotgun) with an unlimited number of magazines or shells.
2 x Grenades (Thunder B's, Tornado, Smoke Grenades)
Up to 5,000 rounds of loose ammunition.
Additionally the Engineer must pick 1 specialty from the following.
Heavy Weapons – The Engineer may carry a shoulder fired anti-tank weapon with up to 5 rockets. The rockets themselves may be carried by other players.
Grenadier – May carry an additional 10 grenades. Additionally the Engineer may mount an underbarrel grenade launcher on their primary or replace it with a multi=barrel launcher.
Sapper – May carry up to 6 explosive devices (defined as a claymore, rigged thunder b or equivalent approved device.)

The Overworld Concept:

Welcome.... to the war-torn island of Terra Verde.


Represented on the map are three nations that are capable of occupying land and the various resources and corresponding infrastructure (not pictured) that comes with it. Requested patches



New Malgovia (red)
No group of people has experienced more collective suffering than the Malgovians. A bitter civil war ultimately bloomed into near-genocide as the Globex Corportation, taking advantage of the chaos brought by the bloody conflict, was able to activate a Doomsday Device on their soil. Mass evacuation was the only solution and the Malgovians became essentially nomadic as no country would allow them to stay in one place to shed their refugee status. Eventually the Malgovians were able to settle on another small island to call their new home. No population is more battle-tested and (deservedly) paranoid of others.



United Colonial Territories (blue)
Non-native settlers on the rich island of Terra Verde, the colonists have long ago become resentful of foreign rule and declared independence with relative ease. The relatively young nation is the most developed in the region, sporting modern factories and infrastructure. This of course has drawn the colonists into frequent confrontation with the natives over the resource-rich forests of the island. The UCT has ambitions to bring the entire island under their fold and modernize the whole region.



Terra Verde (green)
Natives to this once idyllic island paradise, the locals have experienced two major incursions into their homeland. The quality of life is beyond poor for the average citizen, and there are plenty of external sources of blame that the Terra Verde regime can point to. Forests are being cut down, and virgin land is being soiled by the expanding industry of the UCT. The Malgovians bring a reputation of xenophobia and violence to their doorstep. A People's Army is being raised to defend their homeland and preserve their way of life.



The following are not land-owning factions but may make various appearances in the series as well.

Globex Corporation
Lead by the infamous and megalomaniacal Scorpio family, the Globex Corporation strives for its surprisingly transparent goals of world domination and creating the best work environment possible for its employees.




Dawn Horizon
The DH seeks the end of western influence and corruption all over the world. Once limited to operating exclusively in the Middle East, the DH's recent military successes and universalizable vision of a world free of traditional western power has transformed a meager militia into formidable global terrorist organization.



Veluca Family Cartel - Active for this game
Specialists in international drug production and trafficking. Organized and ruthless yet disinterested in geopolitical matters, the cartel will do anything to keep the drugs and money flowing.


UN/NATO
The international community has been embarrassed by their very public defeats at the hands the Dawn Horizon and Globex Corporation, but they nevertheless have interests across the globe and will continue to involve themselves in wars and “peace keeping” operations.

Vehicle clarification question: if the disabled vehicle recieves a 2nd hit, and its passengers have already debarked, is there a blast radius to the vehicle?

ex: we've been hit and disabled, and piled out of the vehicle and are crouching against the sidewalls and rear bumper for cover when a 2nd round comes into the hood. Do those hugging the outside die as well? If so what is min safe distance?

40mm grenade question: do these have any outdoor kill capability? Or are they solely for vehicle/building takedown? (since no bb-expelling shells exist on the market)

Hilslam, for the sake of simplicity, only players actually inside the vehicles would be killed by the second rocket.



Grenade launchers/RPG's will be plenty useful as anti-vehicle/anti-building weapons. No radius kills in the outdoors. (this may actually result in fewer lost rockets for the owners)

After all the discussions we have had about this style of play I am so thrilled to see it finally coming around. I will definitely be in on these provided schedule permits. I am also totally down if you ever want/need a role player.

Mouse we can always find a role. This is something we have been discussing for awhile. It will be a bit of a grand experiment as well but one we are stoked to do. Multiple fields will be used for the various events and each field offers its own unique bonus to the faction controlling it.

Commanders are set! Ruffy of the Forsaken Knights is the commander for the United Colonial Territories. Mr Universe of OOBI is the commander for the Terra Verde forces.


Also, please take note of the following policy:

Camouflage pattern designations will be strictly enforced. HOWEVER, if you and your team (minimum 5 players) are all able to adhere to a matching set of BDU's (ie, marpat, flectarn, etc) that aren't listed for this specific event, you are able to appeal to allow your team to wear that particular BDU. You need to do the following: 1) PM myself or Jonah 2) attach a picture of your team with the matching BDU set 3) include a short blurb about your team history.
Right now the following patterns are allowed for UCT forces: Multicam, DCU/Despat/6-color desert.
Terra Verde forces: Woodland, Tigerstripe.

We've had a lot of emails asking if registration is still open. The answer is yes guys, the June 5th deadline was for patches only. We have several people from out of state who are coming as well who won't show up on the RSVP list. It will be a grey day of airsoft guys, we plan to keep you busy

Another successful run today. The government dogs let the boys drive right past, all they had to do was show them the sign. Border crossings are getting boring these days, without a fight from the Terra Verdian government. They ignore us... It was a good idea to hedge our bets with them in the early days.

The only threat I can see is the growing presence of those UCT gringos. I am going to have to strike a deal with them sometime soon, if I want my family to continue to prosper here. That won't go over well with the natives, but its not like they will live much longer anyway. The one good thing the UCT will do is to clean those mutts out of Terra Verde. The family will do good business with the gringos... They seem to have a weakness for our products.
