AK Question

Im looking at buying an Echo1 CPW but I wouldnt want it to be as long as it is... Is there something out there I can buy to convert the AK (Standard) into a shorter version 47... picture a AK47 to an AK74U (Yes I know they are different... just use that mental image!).

You could get a shorter barrel and gas system for it

You could just buy an AK 74u. Not really an easy way to do that.

Why would you buy a gun, then alter it to match another gun that you could just buy. It's airsoft so there's no change in caliber or gas system. Just a shorter barrel.

Also, why are you looking to have a shorter barrel? An AK has a great length, and has been used for everything from woodland, to desert, to urban and even to CQB warfare for many decades now.

Edit: I'm all for shorter barrels on AR's, simply for impressions, but AK's are usually used in full size for impressions.

Your best option is probably to do what I did. Get a 74u and put a longer barrel. You then have the size of gun you want, plus a barrel size in between the standard 74u (220mm) and a full ak (455mm)

Maybe he's looking for the full stock?

Cheaper to put the full stock on a 47u than a barrel on 47

Good point to both of you. Ddnt think about the stock, but Gungnir is right. Much cheaper and easier to put a stock on a 74

Good point. That would look rather cool though. Full stock on the barrel of a 74u

Originally I wanted this because I like the rail system on the Echo1 CPW and I like it having a crane stock... Basically the CPW is my dream AK but the barrel is too long for someone of my height and stature.
Can someone please answer the question? I know what I want to do with my gun just not how to do it... I really just need a little tech support.

Well to really re state what I did before, there is really no easy or "tech" way of doing it. Its all gonna be makeshift however you can work it out. Guns arnt really ment to be cut down like that.

It's not like an M4 variant where you just swap out the front barrel. If that's the answer you're looking for. It's an AK variant and they don't just unscrew and swap.
You're best bet: Look into retail and For Sale threads and find an airsoft smith. They'll do all the work for you and get your the parts.

How small are you to not want a regular size AK? There are very many small people that have no problem killing people with them.

Agreed, I'm 5'3 and skinnier than the African child shown above and I had no problem toting around my full size E1 AK47.
