A cheap FRS will work fine for a squad leader. Best buy...home improvement stores...Target...you can get them pretty much anywhere. Ignore anything that says "privacy channels," "sub channels," or anything like that; it's marketing BS for a feature that was never intended to be used in this context. Make sure you get one that transmits in both the FRS and GMRS band.

Personally I recommend Yeasu radios. My team's leadership run them and they are awsone radios. Plus they have a function that turns each radio into a repeater. Comes in handy on a field this size. I dnt have the radio in front of me right now but I believe its the 270R. You can find them on Ebay pretty cheap. They run in the $130-$170 range.

Last July update:

Ladies/Gentlemen,

This is the last friendly reminder regarding the July registration. On August 2st, The roster will get cleaned of all unpaid players and the registration fee will rise at $75.00. You are more than welcome to register afterward =)
While I do have no problem leaving August open to registration, you must realize that the longer you take to register, the more difficult it gets for your CO and other command elements to get organized.

Registration
We reached 410 registered players on the roster. I am planning to clean the roster from the unpaid players in the coming days. The teams are looking well-balanced. My tier1 teams are half filled up. If you are not on the roster and want to register, visit this link.

Payment
If you are already register and need to make your online payment, please click here .
If you would prefer to send a check or a money order, mail your payment to:

Operation Blind Fury 10
att: Francois Crepeau
310 Keswick dr.
Monroe, OH
45050
All payments made via Money order and/or Certified check should be mailed to the address above and must be a value of $69.55 ($65.00 base entry fee + tax) :
Payments received after August 3rd will be voided unless they would reflect the price increase (email me for all details).

Canceling your registration
If you can no longer attend the event and would like to be removed from the roster and any further email notification, please email me at admin@airsoftevents.com . Be warned, no refund after 5 days of your payment.

Error in your actual registration status
If you or someone you know already paid but still show RED for your/their payment status, please email admin@airsoftevents.com explaining your situation.

Forum access
As soon as your payment status will get updated (usually within 24hrs), please be sure to visit the forums on and join the usergroup of your selected team.
The usergroup request must be made via your UCP (User control Panel).

Playerkit
I am finalizing the player kit as I am typing this. It will be sent via emails or thru the event forums in the coming hours. Take the time to read it from the beginning to the end. While quite extensive, it is mainly filled with common sense things and graphics

Vehicles, night games and props
This year will be truly unique on so many levels. Because of that, I must remind every players to be safe out there and plan accordingly. The night game will be played in the Airbase and part of the wood, which mean face protection is greatly recommended. Some vehicles will also be used during the night and while stationary, they will still need to be careful to play around. Same cares will be required during the day when they will be able to move.

The event will use pyrotechnics. Make sure to stay away from the cannon tips and pyro tubes. While some sound effects will be loud and intimidating, rest assure that no live rounds will be allowed in the field

Weather
This event will go on rain or shine. I am expecting every players to bring spare clothes and PLENTY of water. DO NOT WAIT to be dehydrated before drinking. Several staff member are medically trained and they won't mess much with you. If they think you passed the breaking point (where it is obvious you are showing dehydration signs), there will be no warning and you will get kicked off the field for the remaining of the day.

Conclusion
That is it for now folks. Hoping to see you at the field in few weeks.

Unfortunately no. There is simply no way we could provide power to 400 players if need me, which is why you should always make sure your battery is fully charge and you have a spare battery BEFORE you leave home.

Attention Green squad leaders!!!

All green squad leaders who have not gained access to the green private forums do so now. I need all hands on deck!!! If you do not get on the forums you may not be in the squad or platoon you'd like to be in, so candy crush can wait a few minutes, sign up and start paying attention to the forums.

I am planning to attend, just can't pay for a few days. Do i have to worry about a cut off point where no more players are accepted?
Also, is there any way to view the rules for loadout and dress and such before I'm officially registered? Planning on a ACU loadout (green), is this acceptable?

CJ,

There is no official cut off date though you might end up filling up a ragtag squad
The gear color doesn't matter so the only thing to know is what BDU you would like to wear. When it will be time to register, that is the one thing you will enter in the system and it will tell you what team you can be part of.

Make sense?
If not, email me at blade@teamstrikers.com

I bought a baofeng UV5RA from amazon for $35, and am simply blown away. I programmed in the 22 FRS channels, weather, coast guard (for boating) and MURS. Best $35 (other than possibly my boots) that I have ever spent. And to those questioning the legality of transmitting on FRS channels, you should know that it's technically illegal to transmit on GMRS channels (15-22) without a license.

I don't think anyone was claiming otherwise. Since the two bands share frequencies (also 1-7, FYI), and since most of the radios are commonly marketed as FRS/GMRS, even though they don't cover the GMRS repeater freqs (from what I've seen), I think people just tend to say FRS when they mean both bands.

I found this page to be extremely helpful when I was trying to figure it all out: http://wiki.radioreference.com/index..._channel_chart

In preparation for the event, I am planning to spend the remaining of the month at the field, starting early next week.

If you got nothing else to do, can work with your hands and have tools (or not), you are more than welcome to PM me here and discuss about your availability. If you are on the roster and would like to get something ready according to your own game planning (example, need to clean specific FOB, etc), you can also let me know and will try to accommodate.

If people under the age of 18 are planning on camping do they have to have a legal guardian or parent with them or does the wavier cover it?

you don't need extra waivers, guardians or parent to be able to camp.

The game starts on Friday morning, are we able to camp Thursday night going into Friday morning? I'll have some players from michigan who wanted to know that way they would have a place to stay.
