Point number 1 in this blog post is that the older guys are always right, even when they aren't. I started playing 2 weeks after my 13th birthday, which is almost as early as it gets for legit fields in Ohio. The older crowd will act superior to the younger guys because they are older, and since airsoft has no rank structure (unless one is established for the event), age is the next best thing. It may not be fair, but the best you can do is role with the punches and prove your worth.

You got to earn that street cred, otherwise you are nobody.

Truth is a lot of the "older" players don't really care about the younger players. We have "our" guys who we care about and know will work with us similarly. The younger generation of bbwarz heroz hasn't experienced what we have. This places them in a different stage of airsoft. Everyone has a different vision of airsoft.

Keep your eyes and ears open and learn as much as you can, and remember the "older" humble ones will also appreciate your input as well. Respect is key.

Rule #1: Don't be a douchebag. This was implemented years ago by six mil and needs to be the first rule of every event. If that rule is followed, there shouldn't be any issues, new or old.

People treat new jacks almost the same everywhere you go - whether it's work, the gym, airsoft, costco, **** anywhere you go, if you're new, people look at you weird. They act like you're some kind of retard. It happens. Ignore the asswipes who won't give you a time of day and be nice to the guys who do.

FYI this game is full of childish adults, so...get use to that whole thing. There's always going to be a dickweasel that thinks he's better than you because he's slung plastic like some kind of pro or some ****. that's why people get driven away from airsoft. They get tired of man babies throwing fits. But, there are a lot of fun people too, so hang out with them and **** it, just have fun.

edit: wow I have some kind of a foul mouth when I talk casually...i should probably work on that.

Speaking as an older guy ( and you can't get much older than I am) , I don't have a problem with the younger crowd ( and you can be 30 and be in the younger crowd compared to me lol) and don't mind giving advice . Just play well and call your hits. And fwiw, not matter what you do in life, you gotta pay your dues. We all have . That's the way life works.

I built an airsoft equivalent of a LAV-25. It was built on top of a 8x8 ATV called an Argo Frontier. It was armed with 2 custom .30 cal that hold 4,000 rnds on a full 360' turret.

The vehicle was also amphibious. It was powered by 4 electric trolling motors in the water.

The vehicle was also extremely well built and solid. One time as I was passing an oak tree I didn't realize that my turret was turned 30' to the right. I rammed the guns so hard into the tree it spun the vehicle. The only damage that occurred was to the tree.

On top of all this, the vehicle was a blast to drive. It wasn't fast but it had serious torque. What it couldn't plow through it would climb over. It really felt like driving a tank.

The only video I have of it is at this link http://www.cimmerians.org/Motor_Pool.html Scroll half way down the motor pool to see it.

Here are some pics though.

I'm glad you liked it.

This vehicle, by the way, was used at several Lion Claws events. In Lion Claws 3 it single handedly slaughtered an entire platoon.

One of the funniest thing about that particular incident was that we came upon 10 guys from the enemy side just casually standing in the open. Guns pointing to the ground. I stopped and told them that if you are all dead, that you can't just stand in the open and spectate. You all need to go back and reincarnate. A couple of guys replied, "Oh, we're not dead"! Now, I'm thinking, these guys must be the biggest frikken idiots at the event. Here is an armored enemy vehicle only 30 ft away. You have no cover for 50 yards. And you tell him you are live players. As soon as my gunner heard that, he spun the turret and just lit them up. They tried to run but we ran them all down. What idiots! They deserved every BB they got.

Unfortunately, she is no longer in my possession. When I bought my HMMWV, the wife said I had too many toys. So I sold it to a guy in LA.

He has made some modifications to it that unfortunately took away it's sleek look. Here are some links as to what it looks like now.

I do miss her sometimes. She was a lot of fun and a lot of good memories.

Accurate sniper

I've been looking around for an accurate sniper, but of course there are many many mixed reviews. I'm not looking to drop 1k, but I have a good chunk of change. What sniper in it's base model, not mods, can shoot accurately at 75-100+ yards or so?

Is this still a problem? The forums are so quiet these days, I have a difficult time imagining anyone getting lit up for anything.

epacella13, I hope you found your answer already . Such a gun simply doesn't exist. In fact, I'm not aware of a stock gun that can even shoot that far, let alone accurately. If one did exist, I'm pretty sure everyone would be running one

As a base model, one does not exist, correct.

Keep hearing over the last 16 years in one form or another that if experienced players don't kowtow to the new players the hobby will die.

For a time I flat out extended a bold FU to new hobbyists who weren't willing to think for themselves, do their homework, or otherwise not behave like spoiled children and make a real effort.

Well, 16 years later, there are even more opportunities for airsofters to play, mod their guns, and hit on hawt lady airsofters. And that theory of the hobby ending because we didn't hold your hand, feed you baby food and tell you what a big boy you are playing war - never quite came to fruition.

So maybe, being encouraged to think and learn and listen is not a bad thing. It just hurts your tiny feelings for a little while while you ball up uyour fist and pretend your opinion will change the world while any negativity will end it.

Or maybe, it really doesn't matter that much what a person's opinion is, that you'll learn everything you need to know by playing and experiencing the hobby instead of trying to avoid the valuable education by trying to cliff note it on a message board.

trying to get back in with my old team

ok im currently Trying to get back with my Old airsoft team..well so far i tried to talk with my former Team leader and he dont want to talk and it makes me feel like crap because i helped him form the team! but since then Ive tried to start my own team.... and no luck, ive tried Craigslist ive tried Facebook and theres NOTHING. and its starting to make me depressed seeing how much the team has done and how far they have got in the Mil-Sim airsoft world. and when i said that on there facebook page he deleted it :/ but me and my former TL and i have formed a bond in the time of forming the team and im not at liberty to throw the teams name out there but i will tell you it based out of Cleveland, Oh and they have done there own events and made some Kickass open plays "and thank you guys for letting me come and play as a undercover agent" but My former TL know the reason why he wont talk to me but im not perfect and nobody is. and again im not going to go into details about that. But i will just say ive have got better i learn my lesson and i have got my life back on track. i just want to get back to where i belong with my former team! ~Dragain

You're in a totally different place for airsoft than I am. The community is almost dead because people got tired of pretentious bbwar heroes that **** on them all day. Not that anyone cares. If people did care, then they would have tried to contribute to a positive environment over a hostile one. I knew plenty of people who stopped playing because they got sick of the player base.

Side note: I stuck around once I realized Texx was nowhere near Ohio and thus whatever he said wouldn't affect me as an Ohio airsofter. From this, I started realizing that most **** talkers don't play anymore anyways, and that airsoft as a whole is a bunch of larperators playing Army in the woods, so if you take anything too seriously, you're letting people play you. Just a thought for any new people reading this.

Are there any milsim events that still allow full auto? I realize most of the open plays and pick-up games allow it but what about larger and more structured events? I miss the experience of the older Blind Fury games.
