The GBB M14 has been known in the airsoft community for a while so I'm surprised that you haven't heard of this until now, but yeah this is pretty cool! In fact, this is the best look that we've seen of the GBB M14 yet. I know I'm pretty excited, and Thanks for posting!!!

I think its great that WE is starting to make more than just the M4. They originally only had the M4 and it was (at least in terms of available parts) out done by the WA M4. It would be nice if WE starts producing GBBRs in the same way that other manufactures produce AEGs i.e. producing M4/M16s, M14s, SCARs, G3s, G36s, MP5s ect...

WE has already released a SCAR L, KAC PDW, and H&K 416. Soon they'll be coming out with the M14 and, supposedly, a SCAR H. There are also rumors, and a few pictures to go along with the rumors, that WE Tech will be releasing a G36.

I really don't understand the appeal of GBBRs. Aside from the recoil which is more realistic than blow back AEGs, they have no appeal. Inconsistent performance, you have to buy some type of gas, and when have you seen one that does not have a slew of issues you need to correct out of the box. Not to mention the high price tag for the gun itself and the magazines.

I understand why a die-hard realism fan may want one, but is it more realistic to have a gun that recoils, or to have a gun that shoots consistently? Show me a real steel rifle that can't work in the cold, then tell me they are realistic. Also, as far as the blow back, that "Tremors" product looks like it could remedy that with an AEG.

P.S. Just as a question, does every new model of gun that comes out deserve its own thread?

GBBRs arenít THAT inconsistent if well taken care of. Also, yes, GBBRs are primarily for die hard realism freaks (like me!), and apparently there are enough us to keep the airsoft companies cranking out new models. Gas blowback pistols have been around for a while and work very well, but once apon a time they where a new, flawed, technology, like the gas blowback rifle. And like the GBB pistol, the GBB rifle will, after much trial and error, become a perfected tech. As of right now the realism of GBBRs is more then enough to keep us "realism fans" happy, and we know that one day the technology will be advanced enough to eliminate whatever flaws the GBBRs face currently. Also, I've seen the new "tremors" videos and it just don't have the kick of a good GBBR does. I hope that explains it.

The main issue with GBBRs is the gas-in-mag system they use. That is were most of your inconsistencies come from. Drill and tap the mags and run a regulated HPA rig and consistency is equal to that of an AEG.

The other appeal of GBBRs is that in general they have lower maintenance costs. Main things that can go wrong are the O-rings and springs. So long as a GBBR is maintained and lubed properly it will perform quite well.

Oooo, thanks man for tip about the mag! I'll have to do that to my Bomber magazine. When the WE M14 is released I'll definitely be getting one, and moding the mag just like you said!

While Demonic is absolutely right in how to fix the problem.

You do understand that every time you would need to change magazines - you would have to disconnect the regulator and reconnect it to the new mag?

Which is why most of the 'good' gas guns, such as the Opforce ones / Sun Projects / Older 'Classic' ones have external rigs connected to the gun - not gas in mag.

Yes, you want to go with HPA. Also opforce makes upgrades for gas in mag gbbrs to improve recoil and quality.

OK, well I don't want to have to carry around a big gas tank. john, do opforce's upgrades involve an external gas source? Thanks!

Why have classics seemed to have dissipated over the years? They are extremely reliable, they are probably some of the more realistic airsoft replicas, and they don't require much maintenance aside from a handmade hop-up ( I know there are correct names for them, but at the moment they escape me.) Is it a cost issue?

Expensive to build.

A lot more maintenance then you think. (Lubrication of O rings, etc.)

External rigs (expensive as well - done rght.)

They have a lot of down sides for as much as they're talked up. But over all, I firmly believe it's a better system then AEG's. But you're talking a start up cost of over $1000 to get into one. I had some crazy amount wrapped up into my M60 when I had it.

The upgrades do not involve external gas sources. They are just properly machined parts of better quality material to my knowledge.

go here for info www.airsoftgasblowbacks.com

I think the other poster was talking about lrb barrels. Now a days they use an aeg style hop up system and you can even use aeg barrels and magazines.

Thanks, john! I kind of like the gas-in-mag magazines because they're heavier and more realistic, but I'll check out whatever upgrades they have available!

The upgrades are for the gas in mag variations. They don't do them all yet so you'll have to see what's available and have it made custom. But they do provide upgrades.

So, it's an exteranal air company that also makes upgrades for gas in mag rifles.

The nail in the coffin for Classics (SP/Escort, Asahi/JAC) that Fox missed was the then (and continuing) difficulty of getting HP gas in Japan, due to fire arm limitations. Here it's a non issue, and a well done rig ($220 ish, using 2 20oz co2 tanks) can run in any weather ( ie last weekends 30's and raining).

On the other hand they are finicky and mags are expensive, 1 mag for an Asahi FNC or Bushmaster can set you back what a box of mag mid caps costs.

The mags are part of the reason people tend to steer clear of gas rifles, even the modern ones. In 90% of cases, if your mag starts to leak, you may as well toss it or find someone who buys them for use with an HPA rig as they will be drilling a hole in the mag anyway.

Also the magazine capacity tends to be low, after all you have to have room for the gas reservoir. That's one reason people are willing to shell out money for an OpForce or Escort GBB. They use AEG mags and the OpForce even use AEG barrels. Much higher initial cost but the cost of maintaining it and building a loadout is significantly cheaper. That is, if you can get over having a air rig somewhere on your person while playing, which in all honesty is not that bad.
