Google Glasses: Application for Airsoft?

By years end, Google will be bringing to market their AR glasses to the market:

http://www.gizmag.com/google-glasses-2012/21566/

Which got me thinking, could we someday see ANSI rated, full seal Airsoft goggles with this technology? Or in a helmet visor? Imagine the possibility, squad members who have exposed their location with Google Latitude would show up with a marker in your Augmented Reality heads up display. You could then track their location in real time. I'm sure the CODsofters are already salivating.

Discuss.

Oohhh, GOOGLE glasses, I read it as "Goggle Glasses" and was like "whuuuu...?"

It would be very cool to see this in use on the airsoft field. The only issue I can see is that they aren't full seal, but if they could adapt the idea to ANSI rated Goggles, I'm all for it. Oh wait, price might be another issue, but we are all already in a money pit, why not spend more?

I honestly think a map with team tracking and an ammo counter would be very very useful. If they made these into ANSI rated goggles I would totally wear them just for kicks.

The only bad thing is you tilt you head to scroll/click... So every time you look down your sights you'll be like DOH!

itd probably only follow small movements rather than large ones so sighting shouldn't be an issue. their price will be massive but they look awesome.

The only problem is they're Android powered. I think I'll just wait a couple years for iGlasses

The problem is with lack of updates by vendors, even after Google makes them available, you could go blind...

I would want some. If they actually were easy to use and adaptable to some kind of full-seal ansi rated goggles then they could actually be really useful. Also, google and Android probably already have patent rights to the technology. If they are as far along with the product as the article indicates, it would be stupid of them not too. Google already owns the internet, and Andriod makes quality products, so I am sure these will be fine after they work out the initial kinks with the software.

I want one if it covers only one eye and tracks dragonballs and energy levels. As long as it doesn't cost over 9000

LAWL ^^

I'm sure the G.R.A.W.-softers are salivating more than the COD-softers here. Still sounds pretty neat.
I bet you anything the anti-texting-while-driving campaign will have to expand it's campaign to "don't use your google glasses while driving"...

Anyone reminded of the Futurama EyePhone with this?

You guys are clearly looking at this from an airsoft POV, but could imagine you if a soldier had this technology? Something with a cooling fan built in, and a heater...OK, I'm getting away on this. But if it just relayed GPS, keeping all of our soldiers accountable for, and possibly just allowing soldiers to call in air support by marking them on their HUD? This would be mind blowing and game changing.

Imagine a situation where you're stuck behind a barrier, taking fire. You just scroll around on your HUD map, mark with a dot where you're receiving fire from, and they can bail out. I mean, sure this would be great for airsoft, but think about how many brothers and sisters of people on these forums would be so much safer over there. Or members themselves.

It almost feels like this isn't far off if this is for real (I'm sure it's for real, but I mean more along the lines of do-able)

Edit: You guys want to do something for airsoft now?
http://www.airsoft-squared.com//post...he-battlefield

Sure, it's not even close to the same, but it's a start for you guys (and girls...although I haven't come across them yet).

And for the finale

Ok, so Google's vision for their AR glasses was a little different than I was expecting, but still pretty frakking cool if they can pull it off to make it this easy to use:

Here's a recent article on them where I got the video link:
