Lets just hope they will be able to move out and start production in a different town or even state like I don't know...Ohio?! That would help bringing their cost down

I, for one, would like to hear a more balanced portrayal of both sides before I can legitimately decide precisely how much of a fu** not to give.

These issues crop up all the time. City sets aside some trendy project with liberal standards as to who can participate. A group moves in to take advantage of it, thinking they will be allowed to do as they were promised. Then along comes a small business looking for the same advantages. BAM - I don't give a fu**, because I don't use their products anyway and whatever definition of "art" the other group has - meh.

I really see this as a "meh" type of issue. Airsofters have to wait or pay more to get their tacticool helmet - only affects me by the tolerance for their whining I'm willing to show, which, quite obviously, is not a whole f**king lot...

Also, art subsidized by federal funds... war subsidized by federal funds... When we get to the part about Little Caesar's Pizza being subsidized so I can get my free Crazy Bread, I'll get involved....

Artists concerned about storing paint...WTF. Artists making art for a living concerned with a "business" in their building...WTF. Government that shuts down a company who benefits their first responders to appease hippies...again WTF.

I have to stop here to keep it non political.

Not sure if some of you guys are questioning what I'm questioning. Seems stupid to me that Ops-Core is sounding like they just want to remain shut down and fight the city on this. And that may take a LONG time. I'm just betting that the whole impetus for setting up shop there in the first place, was that the lease/rent on the property space was low. And nothing more than that.

1. Stop fighting the ordinance over principle, let it go.
2. Move out, move your equipment out, and fast.
3. Find new property space on the outskirts of the city, that is just as cheap, more industrial friendly, and more shipping friendly.
4. Sign new lease.
5. Set up shop, get your employees back to work.
6. Profit.

Am I missing something here?

Torque, I agree that yours would be the best course of action in light of the circumstances. It just pisses me off that all the hippies who say we should all love each other, and be understanding of our differences are such hypocrits.

Poor artists have to put up with actual working companies in their state provided art nest? Man, it must be hard living there. I'm guessing one of the residents have strong ties in the local government to pull a cease and desist like that. On the other side of the coin I think that "armed forces going without protection" is a bunch of bull too. They are simply playing the only card they can in this situation.

Agreed. As much as I like Ops core I also don't think that email they made helps their situation much, though it certainly sounds like a frustrating predicament for them.

Nah. As I pointed out, its more along the lines that I fail to care.

LEO and MIL orders are delayed. So they go to a different product to fill their needs. It sucks, but that is the cost of doing business or the price of making a gimmicky deal with a city building project that will allow other tenants to obstruct their business interests or cause delays that directly impact their ability to do business.

Its great they are standing their moral ground, but this can also be seen as a business decision as opposed to being the moral high ground.
(1) They justify adjusting prices on their remaining stock citing interference to production.
(2) They can write off their business losses with the insurance company citing shutdown by external forces. (3) They can take this "fight" to improve their image towards clients - valiant patriots vs. commie tree-loving hippies.
(4) They can justify a price raise after production resumes to recap lost sales while creating more of a demand for their product.

The real story here is not the military and police having to delay recieving their orders - it is important they have their equipment, but I seriously doubt this will scrub missions or cause warrant to not be served. The real story is the workers being out of work until this is resolved. In this crappy economy, having a production job and having your paychecks halted suddenly, not because of shortage of work, but because of some BS lawsuit. That's the crappy part of this story.

Paint smells just as bad as some of the chemicals used in plastics/ballistic resistant material...
Some artists actually use the same chemicals...
Chemicals in the basement probably aren't as bad as the stuff their sniffing in their subsidized homes...
I am disappoint...

Well did you see that Location it was awesome. They probably want to be there because it is a cool looking building and work space. Some companies like their space to resemble the quality and style of their products. They more than likely went there because it did this and there was little that had to do to make it look the way they wanted. For my company I don't want to be in a little crap hole of a building I want to be in a space that resembles my company and product which is one of the things I'm working on. For a great example of this look up the Lamborghini HQ, that place is truly represents the company wow.

First off with the Military we all know it will take 4 years before they approve another helmet for their troops, the police will be okay lets take a week or 2 and look around and say "okay this works lets do it"

(1) If it is a contracted price then no they can't
(2)Yeah they can but there insurance costs will go up and then its just raises their cost of business
(3)Eh. I see it but what I see more is its a fight to say you can't shut us down here just cause you don't like us. Which really applies to the some groups of people so okay
(4)Or can they? Not the contracted prices now but if they raise their prices every one might just say well these helmets are cheaper and just as affective so we will use them now and bam your out of business

Yeah your right that is one of the main things in this story, the employees being out of work. Which sucks, and the people needing the gear not getting it.
