Pantac LBT 1961a question

So looking at a chest rig that could be a good once for a support gunner role that would be light weight and set up well. I came around to the Pantac 1961 rig, it looks solid and well set up. I now have a question would the large pouches on the side be able to hold the Ares 1100 rnd mags or similar size.

and the mag

or like this

(same size as the stoner mag, this is not a stoner mag though!)

I have the tan version of this. I would say yes, but I know people who remove the seems that splits two m4 pouches and use those box mags for saws.

Thanks man! It seems like a good rig for more then running an LMG that is why I want it to is for a light weight rig to use when not wanting to run my plate carrier lol

I own the Flyye version, and I don't think you'd be able to fit the small cloth box mags in the front pouches. Probably in the side pouches, though.

Another note, I don't think the ARES mags are compatible with CA/A&K SAW's.

The side pouches on the 1961a where designed for 100 round 7.62 M60 pouches.

I'm fairly sure they will fit 100 round 556 SAW pouches.

If you're planning on doing that however, you're going to have a lot of wasted space up front with the rig. So unless you already own the kit, or only want one single vest for a SAW set up and a rifle set up, I would avoid it and get a MOLLE set up, running 2 SAW pouches.

This will be used for both, I have a 6094 rig I can set up, but is a little to heavy for some games I plan on going to and for rwg's. This would be for rwg's to use my rifle or LMG when I chose or when speed is key to an OP and not carrying lots of stuff that might not be needed.

Flyye and TMC make a 1961G (Or K, I can never remember) that has four large pouches instead of six pouches of differing sizes. You could look at one of those so you don't have to waste space.

For the record, I do still run a 1961A myself.

I have the Eagle Industries version of it and I rigged a Tactical tailor hydro pack onto the back of it.

Great set up, especially if you bounce between a .308 base and 5.56 base. You can either carry x2 STANG mags in each pouch (1 pmag) or 1 308 base in each pouch.

Plus pistols.

The side pouches on the eagle version will hold a full can of green gas(short version). I've see propane bottles shoved in them as well.

So this is a good choice then? I don't plan on having more then 3 total LMG mags (1 in the gun 2 in the rig) I mean at $100 a pop and the weight and size lol.

I love my 1961A set up, it's very light weight. Lighter then MOLLE rigs holding the same amount, as it has no connectors really, like MOLLE rigs.

I don't know much about Pantac's copy of it. It appears to be missing somethings vs. the Eagle version of it.

There are two versions of this rig. I have the one pictured and it is great. The other version has a zipper in the middle and fastex buckles added to the mag pouches. I find the buckles to be over kill.

I should have look for the 1961h but those are harder to find since ONLY for LMG's. I still have to wait for the gun and mags to get here. Got a deal on my 1961a that I could not wait or pass on. So here's to hoping it fits, I can get 5 p-mags in the side pouches though. So if anyone could at least confirm on the m249 cloth one if it fits would help me at least guess lol, Gun wont be here till sometime this week for me.
