Why Does This Website View The Israeli Defense Force as an offensive name?

Several times I have tried to sign up my team to this website... and each time my team name has been rejected. My team is called The Israeli Defense Force and I want to submit this as a name. I have tried submitting this name already, and i dont see the Israeli Defense Force on the teams list. Can anyone please tell me how, in any way, this name is offensive to anyone?

Is it actually rejecting your team name, or is it just not showing up on the team list?

If it has simply not shown up yet, just wait a while. It takes some time. If I recall correctly, it took almost a week for my team to show up.

Actually, The first time I tried submitting my team name it was about a month ago. I haven't been notified that my name was rejected but I think that they would have gotten around to putting it up there if they thought it was ok.

Probably because of some vast Anti-Semetic Conspiracy hatched by the evil Administrators and their Evil Henchmen (Fascist Moderators). All of them wear black suits with large black top hats and have handlebar mustaches and when their diabolical plans go awry, they say "Curses, foiled again." Then they all swear their undying loyalty to Peter Frampton and plot on how they can take candy away from babies on their way to the next Republican Political Convention.

This one takes the cake!

This is your first post on these forums. Not a great way to introduce yourself and your "team"

I haven't gotten around to approving any teams for awhile. Mainly because every week 10 different kids create teams that I have to reject.

I will probably be removing the teams sections from the site.

Looks like my new Leet CS Sniping Noob Squad Team will never make it to the team section...

well maybe instead of getting rid of the teams section all together you can put some restrictions and requirements for teams. after all teh teams section i feel is important. I found the 91st through AO so in my opinion its a good thing.

I think it helps too. The admins could just remove some after a certain length of time, a team could have 2 months on the board then they would have to reapply after that, which would remove the "dead" ones that just take up space.

How bout if your team makes a name for themselves first by actually showing up to events. Once you guys prove yourself to actually be a team worthy of being hosted by Airsoft Ohio, you are offered the hospitality.

nah, that'll never work. Who ever heard of an airsoft team actually playing airsoft? it's best to just remove the Teams Function. It is too easy for the feature to be misused and abused.

A Sad end to a horrifically giant pain in the arse!

It seems like every other week we get posts or PMs from some angry impatient nooblet complaining about it. I for one won't be sad to see it go, but that's just me.

Well for one, If I were in charge of approving teams, I would not allow the "Israeli Defense Force" as a team name, because it is the name of a REAL well respected Military force. In general, its not good to call your team by a name already taken by the real military.

Now if you wanted to call your team something like "Ohio IDF AS" or "AIDF Youngstown Chapter" or something like that... thats great.

As for getting rid of the teams listing. Locutus, I don't think you really NEED to do that. Just make sure all requirements your looking for in a VALID team are documented, then pass off the team approval to a henchmen

The team section IS quite useful when looking for a team to join, to play, or to practice with. Even with all the not so serious teams listed. Its usually pretty obvious which ones are valid, simply by looking at a team's website. Yeah I know... a good team doesn't NEED a website... but for those that have them, the professional level of their web design, and how often its updated, is usually a sign of a good team.

Anyway... thats my 2 cents.

They probably wanted to be the IDF because Israel makes the Desert Eagle... JK

I think you should keep the teams that are actually active, but I'm not one to speak since I haven't played airsoft in awhile.

It's like the examples listed above. While some teams choose to take unit names, generally teams associated with Airsoft Ohio do not take the names of whole armies. It's a little pretentious.

I would hang out for a while, go to a couple of games, and then see how you like the community. AO is a little different than most websites in that its members see each other a number of times per year, and we like to know the faces that go along with names. If you'd like to get to know us, hang around and get to know us. It may take a while, but you'd eventually have a large pool of people to go to games with, BS with, and overall, just enjoy the sport/hobby. Otherwise, I'd recommend simply creating a team website and managing it on your own.
