Why PTWs ARE worth it

Sometimes I wonder why I purchased a PTW - $1800 for the whole kit. Then I go play with it. Then, I realize how amazingly efficient, delicious, and just downright indestructible they are. And how well they actually perform. And then I question why I even questioned my PTW in the first place.

Today, while prepping up for Redemption, I took my batteries and charged them. Took my cylinder from a pile of tools and shims. Plugged a battery in, threw my black 310 FPS cylinder in the gun. Pulled the trigger...no shot. Cylinder engaged about half way, stopped, and released itself.

First thing I did was pop open the receiver and check to see if the battery was indeed dead. Pulled the trigger, the gears were moving - electrical response was perfect. Strange.

Popped open my cylinder, and little did I know, this guy falls out...

That's a shim. Somehow, this shim made it into the bottom of the cylinder where the end of the piston is. My PTW cylinder smashed the **** out of it, and still works perfectly. The PTW cylinder, works perfectly. My PTW cylinder smashed a foreign object in it, and said "Meh, whatever."

This is why, my friends, PTWs are worth every cent. Try that with a regular AEG.

Well, it's really not much of a story to tell. I was told about airsoft at age 7 when I went to a friend's house and shot a cheap plastic G36c. I was then lost to airsoft until one day I was invited to an Airsoft War. I didn't have a gun so a friend lent me an M-4 and I was able to play.
This war brought me to realize that I enjoyed playing airsoft and wanted to get more out of it. So I made an Airsoft Ohio Account. I quickly got into a so called "Airsoft Fanatic" faze and so I started to anticipate my 13th birthday (I was 12 at the time). Well here I am. Thirteen and still haven't gone to a single pro war. It turns out one of my Art teachers at school, Gavin Gordon, was a professional Airsofter. SO now i lie in wait as i raise money to get my new airsoft gun

Because it sucks. I know a lot of you are intelligent individuals (okay, at least some), and you think you know how the internet works.

Well, just... be careful. Craigslist is a virtual den of scammers, spammers, and con-men. They *love* Craigslist because it's easy to be anonymous. You don't have to be somebody until you meet them in person.

Don't send your information to anyone. Always anonymize your email address. Don't respond to emails "From Craigslist" or "From Craigslist Employees" unless you solicited them yourself.

Change your password. Often.

Always meet with someone to pay/receive items.

If something turns sour, go to the police. Then call Craigslist. Then go to the police again with posting ID numbers.

Then have patience.

Did I mention not to wire any money to anyone. It's just dumb. Of course, if you want to wire someone to *me,* you're more than welcome.

Anyway, now that I've mentioned wiring me money... I won't be posting anymore about how I'm looking for a job. I have one. So, farewell, overly-optimistic posts, and welcome to the posts where I get to say about what I purchased last or what bills I had the privilege to pay. And yes, before you ask, I do mean to say that it's a privilege to pay bills.

Hooray!

Guinness is awesome
I've drunk it many a time
Irish beer haiku

Mmmm. Loves me a pint.

So. With St. Patrick's Day very much on the horizon, I thought it only appropriate to post something about beer. And yes, I know full well that in Ireland the holiday is marked primarily by church attendance and spending the day with one's family. I am not, however, in Ireland. I am in American college. So, beer will be consumed.

I don't really know why the hell so many Americans drink green light beer to mark the holiday. Remember kids, the Irish have never brewed a beer weak enough to dye green!

My evening will consist primarily of Guinness, Conway's Irish Ale, Jameson, perhaps some Killian's to save on cost, and copious amounts of Irish music. I've been a fan of Celtic Punk since freshman year, originally Dropkick Murphys. Relatively recently my iTunes has (have? is iTunes singular or plural?) expanded to include Flogging Molly, The Pogues, The Tossers, Gaelic Storm, Enter the Haggis and a handful of Irish rebel music. All will, of course, be played Wednesday next.

It's a funny thing. I'm half German, half Irish (which makes me homozygous for beer, of course). But I've always identified more strongly with the Irish side. Perhaps it's a simple matter of my dad's side of the family being more interested in family history than my mom's, I don't really know. But that's how it's always been.

Alright. Enough typing. I've got a fridge full of beer and a party or three to get to. 'Tis Saturday night, after all. Let's raise a pint of the black stuff Wednesday night. And for God's sake, don't drink any bloody green beer.

Madbull hop-up: A Story of Failure

Hey everybody, I'm pretty angry, so I'm going to write about it. This is more or less about the constant pursuit of something better, than it is about the madbull hop-up (although I am pretty upset with it). I am always looking for ways to make my guns shoot better/farther/more consistent. I have used G&P, Systema, and Prometheus m4/m16 style hop-ups, with increasing success (in that order). The madbull hop-up seemed like a very rational, sensible design. Never worry about those pesky, cheap little hop-up gears slipping again!!! Hooray!!!

Yeah. No. I read somewhere that this hop-up doesn't work with G&P m4/m16 bodies. Let me give you a word of advice, a true nugget of eternal wisdom, I even think it's in the bible... Learn from other people's mistakes/experiences, not your own.

If someone trustworthy has experience with something, listen to them. Especially before spending money.

Anyways, I did manage to get the hop-up unit in my zombie killer (which had a Systema unit in it, performing very well). Was that good enough? Yes. For me and my endless quest for airsoft superiority? Nope. Shame on me. The Madbull hop-up was promising looking, everything fit on it rather well, it's adjustment wheel was nice and tight, it was very functional, and even shiny!

It was horribly inaccurate. I checked to see if everything was together right, it was. Still crap. On top of that it was misfeeding, and the whole "bb not falling out" thing, was really annoying (since stray bb's would stay in the chamber after releasing the mag. Wow.

I went to take it out and put my Systema hop-up back in, it was stuck. I tried so many different things to get it out of there peacefully to no avail. i had to hammer it out of there. In essence, I paid $30 for a spring, Madbull blue hop-up bucking, and a small shiny piece of scrap metal. Now I'm sad.

Moral of the story? If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it. Perfection is never something to be reached, only strived for. Save your money, go with what works, and learn from other's experience, listen to what they say. The End.

Reenacting vs Airsoft

Cold Steel at Battlefront Paintball was my first milsim airsoft event. Being from Cincinnati, I was lucky enough to make advanced plans to be part...

Cold Steel at Battlefront Paintball was my first milsim airsoft event. Being from Cincinnati, I was lucky enough to make advanced plans to be part of the Motel Militia and spend Friday night at the Super 8 down the road.

As I am used to Civil War & WWII Tacticals and Battle reenactments, I will use those events for my baseline of comparison. Not that one is better than the other, just that they are different and why I may seem different to my fellow airsofter (other that that sign somebody taped on my back that says “n00b”).

The long and short of it is that in reenacting, you immerse yourself into the time period. When you check in on Friday, you are in the army - reenacting your particular role and you stay in that role until check out on Sunday. When in WWII garrison, as we often stay on base in barracks – such as Ft. Campbell, Ft. Custer, or Camp Atterbury. In garrison, strict military bearing and discipline in encouraged. Typically on Saturday morning, we are then trucked to jumping off point in duce and a half trucks. However, if you’re WWII Impression (loadout) is that in an airborne trooper, you are typically mis-dropped around 0430, with a mission to take a bridge or hold an intersection so the tucks can get through. This is all the good stuff.

But, this is also the point when the tactical begins and things breakdown for me because shooting blanks at each other just seems silly and it is what has drawn me to airsoft.

When shooting blanks out of rs rifles, you have to get the target’s attention – using 2 or 3 shots. Once that happens, he will usually take his hit and then, similar to airsoft, we have medic and bleed rules. However, there is more than often the argument “you didn’t get me … “. I often respond with “what are you twelve?” … which does no good, but makes me feel better. The whole immersion experience is quickly gone with the wind.

Now, this is the point when airsoft gets my adrenalin flowing (a very powerful, all natural, and legal drug that I enjoy very much). For example, my recent experience at Cold Steel. Prior to taking the field, it was a pretty relaxed atmosphere. Please understand, that’s not a bad thing – it’s just different. However, there was an Asian guy running around with a bull horn basically saying - in a polite way - that he would kick your butt if you didn’t get your gear on PDQ. This made me feel at home.

Once in the field, the airsoft experience was completely different. Just the sound of bb’s hitting near me meant that somebody knew were I was and I needed to get re-situated in an expedited manner. I always knew when I was hit. You can hear that unmistakable sound of a bb hitting your bdu’s.

While I'm sure there are times when not calling your hits becomes problematic, for me it will not detract from my experience.

Being is someone’s sights is a feeling that I will not forget quickly and that I will look forward to again at my next airsoft milsim.

Food For Thought, An Airsofter's Guide

I have some maternal instinct in me. It’s why I shudder to think of a bunch of young guys going out early –early- in the morning, with nothing on their stomachs, after less than two hours of sleep, running in the woods shooting at each other. I don’t have any issues with most of those things… just the empty stomach part. So, for those of you who are perhaps new to airsoft, or maybe don’t do what you should, here are some things you can do to make sure that you don’t run out of gas in the middle of the day.

Eat Breakfast

Bring Food with You On The Field

Eat Something Healthier Than Chips And A Burger

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Don’t Overeat

Here's some details and why you should do these things:

Eating Breakfast and Bringing Food With You On The Field
Really, these should be simple. Your body needs food. It's the gasoline that makes you go. You're probably familiar with the concept. Eating breakfast can help get the energy into your body before you're already failing, and helps wake you up in the morning. Having an apple gives you the wakefulness of about one cup of coffee (don't ask me where I heard that), and if you want to be sharp for the day of the event, you probably want to be awake first.

Having had a bite to eat for breakfast, you probably want to bring something on the field just in case. You know you have 18 pouches on that brand new plate carrier you just got, so c'mon, boy, stuff one of them full of some food. You might need it, or in an emergency, someone else might, too. (You never know if there's a diabetic on the field somewhere.)

If you want to tell me, "But Gerty, I play airsoft to work out, and if I eat breakfast and have food on my stomach I won't be able to lose weight!" Well, you actually need to get your metabolism started in the morning. Or something. Look, I'm not a dietitian or a biologist or anything, but every trainer I've ever talked to has told me that I need to eat before I work out. When I haven't eaten, I've blacked out. So. You know, just do it. It's good for you. And I worry and your mother worries. So, just, you know, do it.

Eat Something Healthier Than Chips And A Burger
Honestly, you should be doing this anyway. But, a couple days before the game you should make sure you get all the nutrients you need. You can do this by substituting a power bar of some kind for a meal or snack, or some other kind of vitamin-rich substance. Eating fruits and veggies, I believe, is the best way to go about it, but let's be honest: No One Eats Fruits And Veggies At Airsoft Games.

A way to subtly do this is to make granola bars or bring some kind of fruit rollups or fruit leather or something with you. If you can keep a cooler, try to bring a gallon of fruit smoothies or something. Or some wheatgrass-protien-soy-chai-latte. Just. Something better than bread and meat. Those are good and they'll give you energy, but you need more than that, honestly.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
Oh, man. This is an airsofter's best friend. Drink. You are using more water than you think. Even if it's freezing. You are sweating. You are running. You are walking up and down hills, you are hunting your prey. You are using a lot of energy.

While it's easy to piss on a tree, there's no ready way to replace that water on an airsoft field. You should always have a hydration carrier, water bottle, something with you with water. Don't rely on your battle buddy; you may get separated.

Gatorade and other flavored drinks are great, but they tend to mess up your hydration carrier or water bottle. (It has something to do with the sugar.) So, water. Lots of water. Bring a gallon with you to the game to fill your bottle/carrier up.

Lastly:
Don't Overeat
No one likes to waddle around at an airsoft game and feel all full. Don't pig out after a game, either, because it might make you sick. Consistency is key.

I'm thinking of maybe making a blog of things you can cook beforehand and bring to games... is anyone interested in an airsofter's cookbook? Yes/No?

If you have any tips also, feel free to post them here, as I'd like to make this a "guide" to airsoft and food.

“[The realm of diversity is] a realm where each of one is different from the other. Strikingly different, in fact, unfathomably different. I think a river cannot be fathomed. Once we try to measure it, it has already moved on. But I also think, or, I’d say I wish to think, that all of us are here because we have this very human longing to be whole. This longing of the heart to merge, merge with our surroundings, merge with each other, but in the end, to even merge with ourselves. And this longing of the human heart, I think, is an indication of the realm of oneness, a realm which is as valid for our lives as the realm of difference. … If we look deeply into our individual motivation for being here, we will start to see it as an expression of our wish to merge, and when we begin to see this, the two realms which we inhabit, which as you know, can sometimes be in conflict, will naturally be in a state of harmony.”

–The Gift of a Broken Heart, Bernd Bender

Airsoft Ohio is a pretty neat place. It is both diverse and homogenous, inclusive and exclusive. I’ve seen the best of people here and also the worst from people for reasons both great and small, and I really appreciate the gift of friendship some of you have extended to me despite our differences. I think AO’s great gift is that of harmony through conflict: a stumbling social dance that is both awkward and pure, fierce and heartening.

I’m going to try to explain what I mean by all of this through a viewpoint as an outsider. The reason for this is twofold: firstly, I’m female. We are still outsiders in the game no matter how long we have been participating. There is a certain bravado and comradeship between men in combat or sports-related activities, and whenever women participate, some of that ease and esprit de corps is lost. The second is that while I was a part of the group and participated for a couple years, I no longer actively participate and in fact live most of the way across the country. I believe that these two factors make me a great candidate to make some of the following observations.

Airsofters pack up and play up their differences between packs. There is a tendency to label each other by team name or by skill (noob or vet) and then be more or less accepting of each other depending on the label given. Members of opposing teams frequently berate each other on the forums, and it becomes something almost like the Jets and the Sharks when they meet. (Here you can see, for instance, Son of Liberty and SPEAR, doing their native dance in downtown Cincinnati.)

However, airsofters all stick up for each other when it comes to the outside world interfering or commenting on the sport, and when it comes to defending one of their own. The Punisher tragedy in specific, and generally speaking, national coverage of airsoft are two good examples of airsofters sticking up for each other and their pastime. Additionally, while a lot of derogatory language is used in regards to homosexuality, gays and bisexuals are usually included and embraced as friends. (Hehe. I said ‘embraced.’) So despite the fact that there’s a lot of catty, drama-filled QQ on and off the field between teams and groups of friends, everyone agrees that protecting the sport and also protecting AO itself from outsiders is more important.

I think we can honestly say that AO is overwhelmingly male-driven. I can think of perhaps… seven or maybe ten women tops I’ve seen or heard that play the game. In this way it’s almost completely homogenous. Yet as stated above, there are gays and bisexual(s?). There are people from all faiths. There are many different interests and ages and political affiliations. Much like our volunteer army here in the US, there are a lot of different types of people that join up. (The only difference being that most airsofters aren’t fit for the actual armed forces for one reason or another, or they are former armed forces but no longer serve.)

So despite all of these differences that people here have between them, AO is really a place that makes things happen. Its leadership is sensitive to the overall mission, its members are enthusiastic about the future of the game, and the only people who have anything bad to say about it got burned probably because they were jackasses and/or incredibly socially/technologically inept. So rather than just being a place of difference, it's a place of diversity and growth.

TL;DR version/conclusion:
It’s really tough for me sometimes to come here with all the negativity, arrogance, mud-slinging, hypocrisy, and ignorance. But there’s a brotherhood and friendship here that you can’t get in other places. There is a sense of belonging and of having fought to make your place here that is singular and beautiful. There are many, many imperfections in the way we handle each other, yet on this forum we are less a group of differences, and somehow manage to form a group of diversity in a kind of socially awkward, zit-faced, poor-***, brutishly funny dance that's somehow, someway in harmony.

This is an excellent reminder of what our troops endure on a daily basis. No matter what may stand in their way, they always find the strength to leave it on the sidelines to continue the fight and accomplish the mission.
As far as the stock goes, I did want to get a Magpul PTS stock, but I need the battery space, because I do not want a PEQ on the front my my gun. At this point I haven't decided whether I want to put it at 400FPS and keep it full auto, or go to 450FPS and disable full auto. I'll probably end up going to 400, since IMO 450 is too low to be worth it, now if the limit was 500... Anyway, I'm up for suggestions, mainly on the INTERNALS, but feel free to talk about whatever aspect of it you want to of course, haha. I'll be updating this every time I get a little further on it, so if you care to follow, check back every week or so.

P.S. I'll get some pictures of the current progress up in a day or so.

Hi, I wanted to introduce myself; I am the bested airsofter that I have ever seen. I have been airsofting since it was called airsofting. In fact, it was me who named it airsoft. It is a combination of the words air and soft with a little ing thrown in. I trained with the French Navy and Italian Special Forces from the time I was 2 until I was 8 years old. All the tactics that are used by these excellent military forces can be adapated for airsoft. One of the bestest tactics that used by them is the Steam Roller. We called it Stanley for short. The idea is that you find some nice sponsor and blow smoke up everybodies ***.

I love a good sweaty game of milsim. CQB is where I really enjoy the man to man closeness that I coulnd't get in the military. I asked, but they wouldn't tell.

I am moving from the east side of Cincinnati to the West side of Cincinnati and would like to know which team will pick me up. As you can tell I have more experience than your entire team put together and multiplied by pi.

I sleep at a Holiday Inn Express hotels the night before any games so I can do anything...

I was a very happy man. My wonderful girlfriend and I had been dating for over a year, and so we decided to get married. There was only one little thing bothering me...It was her beautiful younger sister. My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two, wore very tight miniskirts, and generally was bra-less. She would regularly bend down when she was near me, and I always got more than a nice view. It had to be deliberate. Because she never did it when she was near anyone else.

One day her 'little' sister called and asked me to come over to check the wedding invitations. She was alone when I arrived, and she whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she couldn't overcome. She told me that she wanted me just once before I got married and committed my life to her sister. Well, I was in total shock, and couldn't say a word. She said, 'I'm going upstairs to my bedroom, and if you want one last wild fling, just come up and get me.' I was stunned and frozen in shock as I watched her go up the stairs. I stood there for a moment, then turned and made a beeline straight to the front door. I opened the door, and headed straight towards my car. Lord... and behold, my entire future family was standing outside, all clapping! With tears in his eyes, my father-in-law hugged me and said, 'We are very happy that you have passed our little test. We couldn't ask for a better man for our daughter. Welcome to the family.'
And the moral of this story is:

Always keep your condoms in your car.

Hai gais,

I was working with my JG M4/DMR/death rifle the other day (shoots around 790 FPS, I don't know for sure as it broke the last chrono) but anyway, I went to fire it my mom's basement (had to use the silencer cuz she was sleeping after her bridge game, and if she woke up she won't make me hot pockets).

So anyhoo, it cycles and fired (sounded like a 7.62mm X 39 in the basement, yeah I know right?) The BB (I buy only "Matrix" brand ones, cuz they used them in all three movies and are mostly made from Keanu Reeves' solidified hair gel, which = awesome) shoots into the fiberboard wall creating a black hole, from which Chris Costa, Chuck Norris, and Colonel Sanders emerged (I understood the first two, but WTF? Sanders?!!?!?!)

I stood in awe as they went to the freezer and took my hot pockets, rainbow sherbert, and the "special brownies" that mom eats when she's mad.

She's gonna be pissed they took them.

The point is: If you can make good fried chicken, then you're good enough to chill with Costa and Norris.

Yup.

Over all the repair will cost less but im not sure if it will last in comparrison to the G&G. Thoughts on this matter please. Thank you.

Tim loves cranberry oatmeal cookies. I decided to grab some today for Valentine’s Day for him with some other various items. Strawberries (actually for me), peanut M&Ms (… also for me), some green beans… okay, who am I kidding, everything was for me. No, really. Even the cookies. I doubt he’ll get to eat all ten of them.

I can say with absolute certainty that I love my boyfriend, though, even when I’m pretending to buy him things and actually planning on enjoying them myself. Even the shaving oil and aftershave gel I got him from a local gay/mostly organic/slightly hippy boutique is actually to encourage him to shave more than once a week. (This is also for my benefit.) Despite the super awesome fun time we’re going to have this evening, I am also going to posit that he will not have made my day the awesome day that it is.

I was in line at Walgreen’s purchasing some… *ahem*… Catholic-banned baby-inhibiting devices and some M&Ms when one of two Black gentlemen in beat up leather coats somewhere in their early-mid 50s turned around and muttered something to me with a pleasant smile on his face.

“I’m sorry?” I asked, not understanding him.
“I said, is today Valentine’s Day?”
“Yes, it is.”
“Well then happy Valentine’s Day to you.” Grin, wink.
He turned around and his friend said to me over his shoulder, “Sorry, they don’t let him out much.”
I shrugged and grinned. “It’s okay.”

After another ten seconds, the first man turned around to me and said, “And let me tell you: he’s one lucky-***-mother****er.” He looked forward again.

I blushed. I grinned. I bought my condoms and chocolate and grinned all the way home.

I told Tim the whole story a few moments ago. I said, “Honey, I love you. But that man just made my day.”

I don’t care that he was ugly and old. He was kind and he paid me a compliment. I’m much more easy-going than most women, and I don’t like to take compliments all the time, but for some reason I really took that one to heart.

So, go do a good thing some time. If you can manage to find the right time and the right place, give a woman a compliment. It doesn’t matter if they’re "your" woman or someone you don’t know or even your mother. Tell them they look nice today. Tell them they look vibrant. Be sincere. Go on. Make someone’s day.

Why did I purchase a new rig?
Hey guys, I sold my Eagle Industries RRS-V to a friend (Red) not to long ago. It was a great vest, however I really needed a multifunctional vest. With the RRS-V fully loaded it would need a first line to handle all the stuff I had(and keep the bib folded down as I liked). So I set out to look for another chest rig that fit my needs. While searching through some photo's of Seal's on MP.net I found that allot of them had 1961a's with a crap ton of stuff stuck inside. This intrigued me as it almost totally fit my needs. So without further adieu' here is my review of the Pantac LBT 1961a.

As you can see the vest looks very "busy". It is a static vest with no MOLLE retail, but do not let that fool you into thinking it is of poor design and build quality! It is contructed from 1000D Cordure and double stitched. All of the pouches have quarter inch drain holes on the bottom. Beyond being well thought out it somehow incorporates 4 double magazine pouches in the middle, a double pistol mag pouch and 3 VN sized mag pouches on top of the 4 large size mag pouches. Flanking this badass array of holding cells are two large GP pouches that sit on top of 2 large MBITR(radio) pouches. The GP pouches have a Frag pouch sitting on the inner side of the rig. I know this is probably hard to understand, so sorry lol.

Thats a look at what I have dropped in the vest so far. I still have to use up one GP and two frag pouches. Right no I am using one mag for the large mag pouches, and one mag in the shorter VN mag pouches on the front. This way I do not have any "mag stick" while retrieving a mag. The large mag pouches can easily fit 2 M4 style mags though. I plan on picking up 4 Kydex inserts so they retain better.

The vest is flanked by 2 very large MBITR pouches, one I use for a holster and the other is used as a normal MBITR. The vest came with comms channels as well. For those who don't know, these are pictured above, and designed to fit radio or any other small wire that you may need. It just helps with the streamline, and creates less of a hassle for the user.

The Pistol mag pouches fit 9mm mags(M9) with a little extra room(about 2mm), I assume these were made to fit P226 or Mk23 mags. The pouches could fit 2 1911 mags in one pouch. The cover for the pouch covers both pouches so when you open it up you have access to both mags.

The 1911 is in the left MBITR, it utilizes both a buckle and elastic to keep the contents in place. However it does not have a flap. I am using the same pouch on the other side to hold my radio, it also fit my M9 with no problems. There is no wiggle with either sidearm in the pouch as long as the buckle and elastic are in place.

The GP pouches come with a button on elastic square covering. This allows extra retention and cover for the more expensive things, such as a GPS unit, or if you wanted to use it as a mini dump pouch the elastic would keep the mags in place. I removed the elastic on the side that I store my BB's in. I have not removed it on the other side, when I find out what I'm putting in that pouch I probably will. Unless its something that could fall out easily.

Here is a pic of the other pouch with my BB's, it does not have the elastic cover, although it still has the main pouch flap to keep the BB's inside.

The top picture shows how the vest can be pull open for the whole length of the vest, what I found interesting is Pantac attaches two strips of velcros in the middle to reinforce the closer and what I assume as a way to segregate the internal vest into 3 large compartments. This is handy because you can now use any of the three compartments as a map pouch/ADMIN pouch without having to look throughout the vest for your stuff.

The vest has a permanent H-Harness that is easily adjustable and a lower back retention strap. It is very similar to my old RRS-V except the H-harness has a 90* angle that attaches it to the back of the rig, whereas most rigs and my old RRS-V had curving straps that likes to ride on one edge against the back. There is no problem like that on this rig and I'm very happy about that.

Overall I would give this vest a 9/10, as it is not modular in any way(however you should know this before buying the vest, so its no big deal). The H harness is fixed in place, so taking the vest off can be kinda weird because the H-Harness sits to high or low depending on the size of the user. But besides that it is a great vest. I would recommend this to anyone with a STANAG gun or similar mag size. The build quality is awesome as I have come to expect with Pantac, so I'm sure I will have this vest for many years to come.

I’m in week 6 of 22 of the Peace officer academy located at Edison community College. The academy runs Monday through Friday 8:30 through 12:30 and Saturday 8 to 5. The academy’s curriculum is dictated by the state and not Edison. That in its self is good as well as bad. The good is that Edison isn’t running the show; if they did the likelihood it would be a complete waste of time is 110%. The bad however is that the states curriculum covers things that are most of the time useful, but it also covers things that are completely mind boggling stupid and at times would leave an officer at risk especially some of the required things in subject control. We’ve covered a lot of ground in six weeks. You really have no idea of what to expect until you’ve begun the academy.

When we began I only knew two people in our class my friends Joey and Karim. I’ve expanded that now to the whole class and interestingly enough I’m not the only AO member in the academy Inferno (Adam Doak) from the 97th Phantom Squadron is also in my academy. We’ve actually meet before on the field in Springfield operation Rising city.

We’ve covered a lot like I said earlier. We’ve covered Administration, Legal, and a good deal of the homeland security block. The legal block sticks out the most as of now, because of the complexity of the law it took nearly a month to cover. You honestly would be surprised by some of the laws and the extent of your rights. We just started a new block of instruction Wednesday Subject control also known as Defensive tactics. It’s extremely physical exhausting, but also a lot of fun. We started ground fighting today and it was a blast. This particular block of instruction lasts two weeks and is 60 hours. I’m looking forward to firearms though since it’s our next block of instruction.

I plan on adding updates throughout the academy time permiting. I'll say this though after the academy I'm not sure where I'm going to go, but most likely outside of Ohio.

Me and my squad was patrolling around the west sector when I heard a noise coming from the from the south of our position. So I sent Bravo and Bravo to check it out. And then........nothing."bravo,report in."bravo:nothing sir just a rabbit. (able)Well keep your eyes open this is a hi(BANG!)....what the! bravo report,do you read me? bravo: we're all here sir what about your end?"

And then I look to my right and see private Colman with paint rolling down his back."SNIPER,WE'RE TAKING FIRE!Bravo get back here immediately to provide support!on our way Sargent. Able: come one private get to your feet your not gonna get out so easily."so I dragged private Colman to a safe spot while I called for the medic first Sargent rick Scott, we call him ricochet because he has dragged people out of the highest firefights."ricochet get over here and help me with this guy ill provide cover.

Bravo: Sargent we are pinned down and theres no way to get to you. Able: major do you read me?!?! major Johnson do you copy?(major Johnson) I read you. This is fire team able we are pinned down with a wounded we could use some support, west sector about 100m away from the south entrance, and fire team bravo are also pinned down with no way to get to us. we are taking heavy fire.repeat we are taking heavy fire and we are low on ammunition. (major Johnson)alright I read you I'm sending a support team right now to your position we will retrieve team bravo after we get your team to safety. Roger that."

It was about 5mins before the rescue team arrived. "Finlay, get private Colman on the truck ill cover you, go!" When we got all in the truck and taking off i asked the major if we could go after team bravo now. "Sir, we have to go after bravo now I don't know how long they have before the enemy reaches them with us gone now. NO! we have to get you to safety first. We are safe enough in the truck we have to go after bravo now! No we will get you back to base and you will stay there till we go and find bravo thats an order! Bravo: Bravo reporting in, the enemy are closing in fast wheres our support? Able: This is Sgt.ult, we are gonna be dropped off at the base then the major is gonna send a team after you.

Bravo: What?!? we need support now we cant last for more then 5 mins we are extremely low on ammunition........what....what was that..oh no....no..no no no..this cant happen.....no..aaahhhaa!!!(radio static) Bravo do you read me!bravo come in....BRAVO!!! (major Johnson) We lost them son, we have to head back to base the enemy will never attack us there. (Sgt.ult) No we must help them. (major) There gone son you must understand that. (Sgt.) we must go and retrieve there bodies for respect,(major) *sigh* fine we will go."

As we arrived at the believed last spot bravo was reported but we didn't find fine any thing but tire track's and what looked like where bodies had been dragged but no paint trail."so they are still alive. (major) yes but they are prisoners of war now. theres no hope now."
And that was the last time I ever heard of team Bravo again. (bravo 1 Capitan Rice, bravo privet Jones, and bravo 3 first Sargent peter stone. )

THE END!

About a year ago I was attempting to clear my then 8 year old son's bedroom with a Nerf bolt action, magazine fed dart gun with serious jamming issues. After quickly ending my assault with a barrage of darts fired from a battery powered, full auto, belt fed, tripod mounted, 3 rps, plastic death machine he had tactically placed at the edge of the bed, giving him excellent cover, my son asked (with a giggle): "Dad, can I get an airsoft gun?"

Now I had confiscated plenty of plastic spring pistols that were brandished as real steel for robberies and making threats in 15 years of L.E...... but that was pretty much the extent of my airsoft experience at the time. So after Googling "airsoft gun" and watching some Milisim Op videos on YouTube after an hour or so, I broke the bad news to my son: "You're too young right now to play airsoft........... but I'm not!"

Here comes mistake #1: Being cheap. There is nothing wrong with being frugal and only spending what you can afford. But there is something wrong with being impatient and buying junk when you can get something of higher quality if you wait and save the necessary funds. I always go with quality in my profession and other hobby purchases, but I still was thinking of an airsoft gun as a "toy." My first gun was a Double Eagle M4, not the $30.00 dollar store all plastic junk you see out there, but the $90.00 V2 metal gear box junk you can only find on Amazon.com. The purchase does have a bright side however, I learned how to take apart, shim, and put back together a V2 gearbox without sacrificing a quality gun.

To be continued with lesson #2

The reason I am asking this is because I would like to know how many locale people there are around me and if there is enough interest in this I may see about finding and organizing a place to play,But like I said if theres enough interest in it.

Who am I?

I’m a former Marine Infantry Squad Leader who did this for real from 88-92 where I served with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd...

Who am I?

I’m a former Marine Infantry Squad Leader who did this for real from 88-92 where I served with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines. Veteran of Desert Storm I was one of those geeks who would stay in the barracks on Friday nights reading manuals while others were out ‘having fun’.

I also have a website at http://www.milsf.com that I created back in the 90’s with a lot of infantry tactics and techniques.

That said here goes.

It appears that some people don't know the difference between a sniper and someone equipped with a DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle), thinking that having a DMR makes one a 'sniper' or ‘sniper like’. Snipers are not really practical in Airsoft (because of range, 1-2 hour missions, etc,) but that is an argument for another thread.

The only thing the two have in common really is a focus on accurate fire. I think the comparison ends there.

Let’s focus on everyone’s favorite first, the Sniper.

SNIPER - not part of a regular squad or fireteam. The sniper's primary responsibility is INTELLIGENCE GATHERING. Not usually trigger pulling. Snipers are frequently deployed forward to scout and report on enemy activity. Sometimes they are deployed to guard or interdict areas. When the regular infantry unit begins the assault they then provide accurate directed fire on the enemy in support of the assault. Two men are sneakier than 4-13 men.

Snipers usually operate in two man teams. One with a scoped rifle and the other with a spotting scope, frequently called the Spotter. Both team members are trained snipers and are intimately familiar with the scoped rifle, with both of them switching roles between sniper and spotter. Frequently the spotter will carry a SAW or an M203 to give the team more firepower and capabilities.

The roles of a sniper team work as follows. The spotter carries a larger, more powerful spotting scope with a wider field of view. He (no she’s in sniper teams yet), is able to see more and is thus able to locate suitable targets for the sniper who’s scope has a more narrow field of view. The spotter also helps determines the range, windage, etc. The spotter also acts as a security element for the sniper. The spotter is awareness, the sniper is focus. In combat sniper teams spend a great deal of time being unseen and unheard. When they see the enemy they report it in to higher authorities and then direct artillery fire, CAS (close air support), Naval gunfire, etc.

The second a sniper fires their weapon they become the focus of the enemy and their expected life span drops. Always outnumbered and outgunned, snipers must rely on their brains, stealth and skills to survive. Patience is a hallmark of the sniper.

DESIGNATED MARKSMAN – is a part of a regular fireteam, in a regular squad. To understand what makes a DM different requires understanding how a rifle fireteam works.

Marine tactics work like this. An infantry fireteam is composed of up to 4 Marines. 1 - Team leader/Grenadier, 2 - Automatic Rifleman (SAW Gunner) 3 - AAR (Assistant Automatic Rifleman) - 4 Rifleman (DM).

On the field of battle the fireteam revolves around the SAW Gunner (NOT THE TEAM LEADER). The SAW is the core, heart and soul of a fireteam.

TEAM LEADER (Corporal or Senior Lance Corporal) The Team Leader uses his superior experience to direct and deploy the SAW gunner keeping an eye on the overall battle, thereby allowing him to place his M203 grenades where they will support and compliment the team.

SAW Gunner (Lance Corporal) is the heart and soul of the fireteam providing a high rate of fire that intimidates, suppresses and in an ambush massacres the enemy. SAW is something of a misnomer in that it stands for 'Squad Automatic Weapon', but Marines Rifle squads are supposed to have three of them, making them TAW - Team Automatic Weapon (you won’t ever hear that term).

The SAW gunner is deployed to the most advantageous position and the fireteam is focused on defending and providing security to the SAW Gunner. Machine guns excel at suppressing the enemy. The SAW is NOT Spray and Pray. If the SAW gunner is incapacitated for whatever reason SOMEBODY must pick up the SAW and carry on. The SAW is always ready for battle. If the SAW gunner has to relieve himself, dig a hole, etc, then the AAR takes over, if the AAR is not available, then the Rifleman, if not the Rifleman than the Team Leader.

AAR (Lance Corporal, PFC, Private) is the backup for the SAW gunner. His job is to take over if the SAW Gunner falls in battle. He also carries extra ammo, acts as a spotter for the SAW Gunner and in general is the SAW Gunner's batman/bodyguard/pack mule/backup. His job is also a DM but is never really called that. The AAR is the third senior member of a fireteam and my fulfill many of the roles of Rifleman.

Finally the RIFLEMAN (Lance Corporal, PFC, Private) is the Designated Marksman, responsible for accurate, well aimed fire. Usually equipped with the most accurate, long range rifle, the DM has a lot of roles but when the shooting starts the goal is accurate fire. While the SAW Gunner forces the enemy to put their head down the Rifleman can take the time to aim in and get sight alignment, sight picture on where the enemy is going to stick up his head. The Rifleman does not have the rate of fire, or ammo capacity the SAW gunner does so he must make his rounds count.

The Rifleman has many other roles in the fireteam/squad. From point man, to security element, to pack mule, to breacher, to slave labor. Riflemen are the lowest on the totem pole and tend to be most ‘expendable’, the theory is they are not burdened with heavier weapons are thus faster, more agile and less winded than others. They also require a great amount of skill, training and knowledge.

Even though the Rifleman (DM) is one of the lowest positions in a Marine Rifle Company TO&E (Table of Organization & Equipment) it is crucial. It is not rare to have a senior marine in that position, making the most junior man the SAW gunner (who gets a lot of close supervision from the Team Leader anyways). Senior Marines don’t like carrying heavy weapons and being the primary target, not to mention they tend to be more experienced and thus skilled in the infantry arts.

Snicker Claymore

Image: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o158/vietec/DSC01034.jpg

So I picked up the claymore about a week ago, but due to the jet lag I had, I did not have time to review this item. Even as we speak, I am eating a coconut.

MMMMMmmmm...now that the coconut is gone I'm ready for the review!

Manufacturers-As far as I know, Snicker, Supercell (very similar to Nicker), Gamma, ESCORT (discontinued), and STAR (sound alarm).

Model-M18A1

Specifications-I wouldn't really know how to chrono this without damaging a chrono, the box said it can shoot about 20Meters, I would say that it reaches around this distance, depending on how you aim it.

Accessories needed to run- two 9Vs (included with the claymore) and 23A battery for the remote, they don't say this in the manual, but it is the same battery that car alarms use. I found out by opening the remote!

Cost and place of purchase- There's actually a story on this. I visited Hydralover in California for a week, so I decided to go to Evike to buy a few things. The otehr things I bought was for a friend, and I wanted something that I could bring back myself as a souvenier. Well, stupid me bought this claymore in person, because I always wanted one. Little did I know, the tax in the area was about 9.75%, basically 10%...I wind up buying this claymore in person, paying the tax, and being hassled on my way back. I could've just as easily bouhgt this online and recieved free shipping, but what makes a trip to the airport more interesting than declaring a toy claymore? Well I can tell you, the only funner part is waiting 1.5 hours and luckily being cleared. >_>

Intro/First Impressions- Well, I had a tough decision to make when deciding what to purchase. I was torn between the supercell/nicker claymore, and the Gamma Claymore. While the Gamma's front didn't have the hole (looks more realistic), and sports a realistic clacker as a detonator, the supercell was about $40 USD cheaper and I saw it in person...The gamma claymore's clacker also wasn't realistic in the sense that it was wireless, so figuring that the realism was the deciding point, I decided to cheap out and buy this Snicker brand. Besides, the nicker had one thing that the Gamma didn't, great advertisement, how could you refuse this? Please note that Hydralover/hydrababy is not included with this product, he is limited edition and is high speed, low drag.

Looks- I have to admit, even with the unrealistic hole in the front of the claymore, it still looks really nice. Even the highly unrealistic remote still looks nice, and definitely fun to pull out on people. It brings a very confused look. The only other unrealistic thing about this claymore is the light on the upper portion of the claymore. It sits where the detonator cord goes on the real claymore. Here's a few pics of the claymore!

^Claymore packaging^

^Closed^

^OPENED. Shows the internals.^

^Remote^

^set-up^

Metal Parts- The hinge/spring system in the inside, the leg system, and the hinges.

Features- Pretty heavy, a good amount of weight though, not overly heavy, and it doesn't feel toy-like. The Legs are of course able to move to help set up the claymore, you can tie string to the trigger of the claymore to make a tripwire, and you can program up to 4 claymores per one remote, thanks to the four detonator buttons labled "A," "B," "C," and "D." There is also a safety key that you can leave in the claymore for transport (to keep the claymore from accidentally detonating. This product also comes with batteries, which is a nice change.

Magazine- There's no magazine, but loading the claymore is a task that you have to get used to. You have to first flip the on/off switch to "on." (I know, I know, re-read a few times and then you'll get it ) Next, you have to press one of the four buttons on the remote to activate it (whichever one you want to choose), and you should hear a clicking from the claymore. This means that your claymore recognizes the remote signal and that the button is set up now. Next, you need to fold in the two hinges, and close the front cover (use the cover as leverage). Then, you need to use your speedloader and load approximately 200 rounds through the hole in the front cover (This takes too long for me, so I load them in before I close the cover). After that, you need to push the lock mechanism down, and engage the trigger to keep the lock mechanism down. Lastly, you need to CAREFULLY insert the safety key, the claymore does go off pretty easily. Now your claymore is ready to be set up, if you want to set up a trip wire, tie one end to the trigger mechanism, and the other to something strong...CAREFULLY pull out the safety key. It is now live.

Firing- This obviously shoots about 200BBs per second, so pretty good ROF! Hehe, all at once of course.

Accuracy- This is not really an accuracy item, but the spread on it is great. So long as one of your 200 BBs hit someone, you win.

Any Upgrades you have installed- I have not installed any upgrades RELIABLY yet. I have been trying to install metal plates where the hinges scratch the cover; however the mighty putty and epoxy doesn't seem to be holding up to the force, but here's what it looks like with my metal plates:

Conclusion- In conclusion, was the pruchase worth it? Yes, it was worth every single penny. I plan on getting that metal plate thing worked out, I had a blast buying it, checking it in my luggage >_>, and playing around with it. The one thing that you have to note, is that it is a known problem that the legs will get loose and make standing the claymore up very difficult. My solution is to just hammer in the rivets a bit whenever this happens, it loosens up after quite a bit of playing, but it's not like you'll have to rehammer it every single use. They claim taht you can also put baby powder in the claymore for realistic smoking action, but I find this dangerous, as it may make its way into a player's eyes. Beyond that, this thing is purely fun, I plan on putting velcro on the back of this claymore and going Ji-had/kamikaze with it...if I know I'm screwed in a bad situation. After like 20 or 30 uses, it still is holding up fine, I've stuck it in dirt, set it up inside and out, and used it without an issue. I would say that in the end, it was definitely worth it.

Model: Beretta M93RII

Specifications: This gun shoots about 310FPS stock. It also has a metal slide and barrel. It has a length of 10 inches from the far back to the front of the barrel. It weighs around 5 pounds. It has Semi Auto (Top position), Full Auto (Center position), And 3 round burst (Bottom). The safety is located right behind the selector switch.

Accessories needed to run: This gun is supposed to use green gas but I currently run it off of propane. I’m thinking of switching back though.

Cost and place of purchase: I bought my M93R II off of eBay from Uncle Che Airsoft. This person is a great seller and I highly recommend them. I was lucky in a bid and won it for $125 shipped.

Intro/First Impressions: I first thought that the M93R was really ugly before I bought it. Then one day, I saw an ad from Jungletoy for a STTI M93R, spare mag, and BBs for $110. I set my goal for that gun and began to search ebay for it. I saw a Omega M93R for $80 shipped or I can bid on a KWA. I remembered something about KWA Being a lot better so I decided to bid on it. After five days which felt like an eternity, the package finally arrived. It was brand new in the box and the size of the box actually surprised me. It was small for what looked like a big handgun. I didn't hesitate to open the box and there it was. It was really beautiful; in fact, I almost shed a single tear. It was beautiful; I pumped in the gas, loaded the BBs, went to my kitchen, and shot at a box. It amazed me and anyone else who fired it. I decided from that point on that I would never ever trade/sell my M93RII.

Looks: As I mentioned before, it looked ugly before I bought it but as soon as I held it and looked at it, the looks got better and now I think that the M93RII is the most beautiful gun out there.

Metal Parts: Metal parts include the internals, barrel, slide, mag, trigger, foregrip, disassembly pin, slide catch, selector switch, and the trigger bar.

Features: There is only one safety mechanism on this gun and it's not all that great. It is small and hidden behind the selector switch. It is on the right of the selector switch in the picture. It only switches on when the gun is loaded which makes sense but I would like the safety to be able to operate regardless. I did attach a HFC Silencer on it. I did this because after a long time of researching and only finding that M93R silencers cost around $40, I decided to buy a silencer from an airsoft store in a flea market.

Magazine, easy to load?: Yes, the magazine is very easy to load. KWA Supplies a loading rod/tube. All you do is attach it to the top of your mag, pour in the BBs, and ram them into the M93R's double stack mag. People say that you can hold 38 BBs in the mag but I can tell you that it will only hold about 30-35 BBs. The mag doesn't have one of those tabs that KWA Glocks have; instead, it is all closed off. I think that this is really nice.

Firing, rate of fire: I really don't know the exact number on full auto but I'm guessing around 18-20 rounds per second. It may be less depending on what gas you use, I use Propane.

Accuracy: The accuracy on semi auto is good just like any M92 but on full auto and 3 round burst, I'm not really that accurate. Perhaps I'm not controlling the gun correctly though.

Any Upgrades you have installed: I have installed no upgrades, it will most likely stay stock because there is no use in messing with the gun's durability when it fires flawlessly in stock form with decent FPS.

Conclusion: I would recommend buying one of these KWA M93Rs. I have seen very little used M93Rs for slae compared to any other guns and I take it that almost anyone who owns one loves it. I may wind up buying a spare mag for it sometime in the future when I'm not broke. I haven't had a single problem with my M93R yet and I've owned it for maybe a year or two now and everyone that I allow to fire my M93R has loved it.
That's it, I hoped you all enjoy my review. Please PM me if you have any questions or suggesstions.
